Welcome to the City of Sandpoint Fire Dept.
Sandpoint Fire Department Local 2319:  1123 Lake St.  Sandpoint Idaho 83864
(208) 263-3533 or (208) 263-3556

Within the city limits you must obtain a permit to burn during the entire year! This is true during the winter period as well as the hot and dry season when burning is shut down in the county.

Where and how do I get a burning permit? Burn permits are issued daily by shift personnel depending on weather and EPA regulations. You can obtain a permit by calling the main fire station @ 263-3533 or 263-3556. Permits have no cost, however if you burn without one you could be fined.

When is it ok to burn? When is it not? By calling in for a permit, the on duty personnel will let you know if it is ok to burn or not.  These considerations are based on EPA rating for the day and weather conditions.

Burning Rules:
An adult must be in attendance at all times
Charged garden hose must be available and near by
No garbage may be burnt what so ever
Burned material shall be in small piles
If complaints are received, fire must be extinguished
Permits are only good for one day
Piles should be out by dark
