Within the city limits you must obtain a permit to burn during the entire year! This is true during the winter period as well as the hot and dry season when burning is shut down in the county. Where and how do I get a burning permit? Burn permits are issued daily by shift personnel depending on weather and EPA regulations. You can obtain a permit by calling the main fire station @ 263-3533 or 263-3556. Permits have no cost, however if you burn without one you could be fined. When is it ok to burn? When is it not? By calling in for a permit, the on duty personnel will let you know if it is ok to burn or not. These considerations are based on EPA rating for the day and weather conditions. Burning Rules: |
