City Beach located at the East end of Bridge Street is one of the oldest and best known parks in Sandpoint. The Park, 18 acres in all, was donated to the City in 1922 by the Northern Pacific Railroad and is now one of the focal points of Sandpoint. Its been developed over the years by volunteer labor, donations, and City, County, State and Federal funds.  The City Beach is also the busiest park in the system and is used for several community special events including a large arts and crafts fair hosted by Pend Oreille Arts Council, and the Lion’s Club 4th of July Fireworks.  

City Beach is open 4am to 11pm and amenities include: 

Two restroom structures- one rebuilt in summer 2006
Food concession facility with outdoor deck
Picnic shelter with BBQ’s- re-shingled in 2006
Two boat launch ramps
Playground areas containing:
          Youth climbing apparatus, Three slides, Two swing sets
Two tennis courts: The Sandpoint Tennis Association Began fundraising to renovate the City Beach Tennis courts in 2005.  The courts were completed during the summer of 2006.
Basketball court
Four horseshoe pits
Three sand volleyball courts
Two life guarded swim areas (in season only)
Lifeguard “shack” (work station)
Two marinas, which accommodate approximately 105 boats: In 2005 the City installed a new handicap ramp and refurbished the 300 and 400 docks at the windbag.
Boat sewage pump-out and porta-pottie dump station
Bicycle / pedestrian path following the park perimeter
Maintenance shop
Seventy-five picnic tables
Six pedestal BBQ’s
Parking for 250 cars and 15 RV’s or vehicles with trailers
Pedestrian Walking Bridge over Sandcreek finished in 2007

Projects underway at City Beach include the first stages in refurbishing the Windbag Marina.
