New
Water Treatment Plant
|
|
In
November 2009, Sandpoint voters approved
construction of a new water treatment facility
on Lake Pend Oreille. The new treatment
plant will increase capacity from 3 million
gallons per day to 10 million gallons per day.
The
City selected membrane treatment technology
from the Pall Corporation of New York.
Membranes are a positive barrier between the
raw, untreated water and water delivered to
customers. Parasites, viruses and
bacteria are physically separated from the
water through the membrane treatment process.
Construction on the facility
began in
early 2011. Hoffman Contractors, Inc.,
from Spokane is the contractor. The
work is expected to take just under two years
to complete.
Below
are a couple of construction photos from
October 2011.
